I fought the urge to try some psilocybin on my last night on the beach. It wasn’t much of a fight I like my sleep and psilocybin likes to do slideshows most of the night and I wasn’t feeling transcendent enough to “let’s see what happens”. Also it makes you yawn a lot while keeping you awake.
Tease
This little island transformed my life for good last time I stayed here. It was supposed to be a have a single beer and prop my feet by a campfire for 48 hours but it had other plans for me. A 20 month (so far) spiritual experience.
I’ll always write about this and never post. It never comes out right and maybe I harp on it and or maybe I have to because some days it sits in a dam and I gotta poke some holes to let it out.
As I said in my last post I didn’t come here to add a chapter. I came back to relax with a little nostalgia for the moment. I retraced some steps and enjoyed a sunrise or two. The last time I left this island my inner consciousness had just begun knocking on my door.
This hit me hard folks. I don’t take days off from this.
The more I look at it, the more I rewind it the more I can connect a few things or maybe not. Maybe I’m not even close
But
I discern the way I feel. I connect the dots through intuition and experience of my past. My past life, I could say because the guy before that moment has flown the coupe for the most part. I see a different person each time I take a photo of me after that moment. Well because I am.
I didn’t wake up smarter. I don’t levitate or speak in tongues. My lens of how I see the world changed completely. The difficult part for me was it all happened in about 48 hours.
Hell of a ride if you ask me..
I walked the beach an hour before sunset and stood with my feet in the tide as the sunrise cast across the ocean. I held that pose for about 15 minutes. Something told me to linger and I did. Feet in the wet sand and that sunrise resting on my face. A familiar song was playing on my earbuds. The one that synthesized in my head last time. I smiled a smile that I’ve never smiled before and walked slowly back to my truck. I got exactly what I came for. It waited until I was leaving to make a cameo.
I was on a synchronicity trip of sorts you see.
I came here not necessarily to find answers but I was looking for recognition. As my feet stood in the ocean I felt a part of the other guy close by. A connection to the guy who came here last time and dealt with some mild psychosis for a while. We stood near each other quietly, almost like a string connected by two paper cups. No communication just a moment of reflection and then he was gone.
I needed that. I gotted that. (I make my own words here)
I’m grateful for that. Gosh dammit I’m grateful for a lotta things. The weather was amazing, my fellow campers were relaxing and that sunrise both days put a notch in my memory files.
I’ve always said to spread my ashes in Linville but you may have to save some for Hunting Island. We are somewhat bonded. Just don’t toss them in the water I don’t want to be fish food.
I’m going to start a new check off list next time I go camping. Three things will always happen when I go on a two day trip.
- I will break something
- I will lose something
- I will spill something
On this last episode of those top three consistencies I
Dropped my coffee on the trail head to the driftwood beach while breaking my cup
I found a shark’s tooth on the beach. I had gone my entire life without ever finding one. In fact as I was walking I said to myself “I’ve never found a shark’s tooth in my life”– looked down as I walked and lo and behold there it was, three feet from my thoughts. I carried it back to my campsite, placed it on my tailgate and then it was gone. I bet I spent an hour looking for it I wanted to give it to my daughter. I know there are a million teeth out there but this was my first one.
Still mad
Oh and I broke a zipper to my joggers.
Every
Damn
Time
I experience these three things. My blanket I use is currently in the washing machine from spilling coffee on it in Linville.
I am consistent if anything
Bent my coffee press on that trip. Can’t remember what I lost. Probably my mind.
No one will ever accuse me of buying gear and letting it go to waste. My shit is gonna get used.
I’ve thought of doing gear reviews online for fun.
Real quick you can’t go wrong with Jetboil products
Throw anything from Goal Zero in the trash
See? That was great
I got some fun downloads I’m deciphering from this last trip. We shall see what unfolds over time.
If I could share one bit of learned information from this past weekend it’s don’t try to pick up a feral cat. It hurts
Peace
